A place made over generations
The ring was built around a low cairn. Quarrying threatened the monument before excavation and restoration clarified much of its structure.
Research showed that the cairn and circle developed through stages, challenging simple models in which every element was erected together.

Meaning through time
The recumbent setting frames the southern landscape. Lunar explanations are possible but form only one part of its likely significance.
The evocative hilltop setting encourages contemporary spiritual use, while claims about ancient Druids belong to much later interpretation.

Walk gently into the landscape
Dedicated parking with a short uphill walk. The path and summit are uneven and exposed.
Do not climb, move stones, light fires or leave offerings. Follow current access signs and take everything home.
